From Calgary, there are two ways to reach the Lodge, either by driving through Kananaskis Country Provincial Park, or south from Canmore (see below).

Click on the image below for a detailed area map and directions...
From Canmore
follow the signs to the
Canmore Nordic Centre, and stay on the Spray Lakes Road, which becomes the Smith Dorrien - Spray Trail (#742 South) - a well maintained gravel road - for about 37 km. south along the edge of Spray Lake, to the Mount Shark Road turnoff. Turn Right.

Please note: If the road is closed at Canmore, it is always open year-round going from Highway 40 South, then turning on to the Spray Lakes Road. It will take 1.5 hours from Canmore.
From Calgary
follow Highway #1 (Trans-Canada Highway West) to Highway # 40 Kananaskis Trail. Turn left (south), and keep on Highway 40 (you will go past the Nakiska Ski Hill, and Kananaskis Golf Course, and the Fortress Mountain Ski Hill), all the way to the Smith Dorrien - Spray Trail turnoff (# 742). Turn right (west) and soon after turn right again, and then follow the Smith Dorrien - Spray Trail for about 30 kms. (north) to Mt Shark Road. Turn Left.

Either route takes you to Mount Engadine Lodge, which is located at the Mount Shark Road turn-off on the Smith Dorrien - Spray Trail (#742).

It's a beautiful drive - you'll pass some spectacular scenery, and plenty of spots to pull over and enjoy views and wildlife!

"The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy,

while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn."
